FILED IN: Behind-the-Scenes, Intern Intro, M&G Happenings

Summer is in full swing here at Marigold & Grey, and with it comes one of our favorite traditions - welcoming a new intern to our girl powered gifting team! This season, we’re thrilled to introduce you to our summer intern, Nicole. From assisting with our custom curated gift design builds to supporting the behind-the-scenes in our studio to helping with gift assembly and customer support, Nicole will be diving into every corner of the M&G experience. We’re so excited to have her on board and can’t wait for you to get to know her better!

Without further ago, let's hear from Nicole in her own words...

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

Hello! My name is Nicole and I’m going into my senior year at The University of Arizona, majoring in Communications and minoring in Public Relations. I have been a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority since my freshman year, and it has given me so many wonderful experiences.

I grew up in Northern Virginia and enjoy coming back home to spend time with family. In my free time I love watching reality shows, spending time with my dog, and going on Starbucks runs.

What are you most excited for while interning at M&G?

I’m excited to learn about all the different processes that go into running a business like this. A couple of weeks ago I got to help with gift production, and it was cool learning about the process of building gifts. It has also been interesting to see what goes into designing a custom gift and learning about what occasions people are gifting for.

[If you are are also curious about M&G's custom gift design services, please reach out. We'd love to work with you on uniquely personal gifts for whatever your needs may be from business to wedding to personal.]

Where else have you been an intern?

In the summer of 2023, I was an intern for Kimball Stroud & Associates, which is a consulting firm in DC that specializes in event management and production, fundraising, and strategic communications. While interning there, I helped with the check in process at various events. Behind the scenes, I assisted with tasks such as making gift bags, putting together name tags, and reaching out to senate and house members in DC to invite them to different events.

What about M&G made you want to apply for the internship?

I love the idea of getting to be creative and I think it’s special that M&G is woman owned and led. At my previous internship, I had fun putting together gifts for events so I thought that interning at a gifting business would be something that I enjoy!

What was the best gift you’ve ever given? And received?

The best gift I have ever given was to my boyfriend for his birthday. I made a basket full of his favorite snacks and included some other essentials like Aquaphor and gum. I also added a handwritten note to make it more personal. Making this gift for him and surprising him with it was a lot of fun.

The best gift I have ever received was probably my childhood dog, Sammi. I have always loved animals and in 2013, my parents surprised my brother and I with her for Christmas. That was an unforgettable gift.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I see myself living somewhere close to the beach, like Southern California or Miami. At this point, I would definitely like to have my own dog or cat as well. I hope that I am getting to travel a lot and am having tons of fun post grad. I am excited to see what the future has in store!

Please join us in giving Nicole a warm welcome as she dives into all things gifting with us this summer. We’re excited for the creativity and energy, she'll bring to team M&G. Keep an eye out for behind-the-scenes moments on our Instagram. If you're curious about internship opportunities at Marigold & Grey, we'd love to hear from you!
