The Ideal Time to Send Out Holiday Client Gifts

Considering the fact that we do a ton of client and corporate holiday gifting this time of year, the most common question we receive it "When should I send out my client gifts in order to maximize impact?" I definitely have some pretty strong feelings on this subject and am excited to share with you today!

PRE-THANKSGIVING

Most everyone sends holiday gifts in December. But there's no hard and fast rule saying you have to. So, why not mix it up and send them pre-Thanksgiving as an "I'm So Thankful For You" gift. You can use fall-inspired contents and color palette to really pull through the Thanksgiving vibe. After all, this message of gratitude isn't just meant for people's personal lives. It extends to business as well especially when gifting your clients towards the end of the year. Not to mention, your gifts will likely be the first through the door and are sure to get noticed!

FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER

For us here at Marigold & Grey, this is by far the most coveted time to send holiday client gifts. Our clients' clients are just returning back to work from Thanksgiving break and officially in the holiday spirit. Even the most bah-humbug of people are usually resigned to the fact that the holidays are here and are ready to get into the spirit. So naturally, gifts coming through the door at this time tend to be hugely impactful. As the one sending the gift, you look on top of things and intentional about your holiday gifting since you're clearly doing it "right on time".

NEW YEARS GIFTS

This is, by far, is my favorite time of year to send out gifts. If you don't send your client gifts in late November or early December, hold off altogether and create New Years-themed gifts instead. Here's why! If you send your client gifts too late in December, you run the risk of people leaving town early for extended holiday breaks. Not only that but there are usually TONS of other gifts coming through the door at the same time and so your gift becomes less impactful as it gets lost in the shuffle. People become immune to gifts if they're getting too many at once. And even more, people return from the holiday break refreshed and optimistic and ready to tackle the New Year. A gift coming through the door at this time with a New Years vibe is often really well received! Also, don't feel like you're being a procrastinator if you hold off until January. Make the decision to intentionally do New Years gifts and I guarantee you'll stand out from the crowd! In fact, I make this recommendation to our M&G clients all of the time! And I'll even let you in on a little secret...we send our own Marigold & Grey clients gifts in January. So, don't worry, we definitely follow our own advice!
