Reasons to Shop Small on Small Business Saturday

Here at Marigold & Grey, we are proud to call ourselves a small business. Small business life can be hard but it can also be incredibly rewarding. Every victory is requires a little (sometimes literal) blood, sweat and tears and that makes even the smallest success that much sweeter. For us, this means ribbon tying and re-tying until it looks JUST right. Even if it's an order of 300 gift boxes! It means answering emails after hours and on weekends to help those occasional clients who have procrastinated, yet still need just the right gift for someone they care about. It means sending actual emails to our customers rather than automated responses. It means having a real-life phone number that we answer rather than keeping our business limited to email only. It also means believing SO deeply in our mission that our voices are heard amidst a sea of big-box stores with huge advertising budgets and the ability to offers huge sales at the drop of a hat.

Being a small business means that our community is crucial to our success. Whether it is local artisans and vendors who supply us with their gorgeous goods or groups of our small business peers that build us back up when we are down such as Rising Tide Society and Savvy Business Owners, we would not be where we are without our amazing community! While this weekend is a big deal for some of the retail giants out there, it is also an opportunity for us to support our local communities and neighbors. 'Shop Small' isn't just a slogan. It is a way to say 'I see you' to the small businesses that keep our communities vibrant. It is our way of life.
