The fall brings a change of the seasons and cooler weather and the welcoming back of football! When the Washington Commanders approached us at team Marigold & Grey with a mission to surprise their VIP season ticket holders, we knew this wasn’t going to be just any project.

A Dream Gifting Collaboration with the Washington Commanders

The Commanders asked for corporate custom gift sets that were unique, memorable, and worthy of a season that fans will be talking about for years to come. As custom gift designers, we were all in! And as die-hard Commanders fans ourselves (yes, even during the tough years!), this was more than just a gifting moment - it was personal.

“This project was pure joy due to the high degree of thoughtfulness, quality, creativity, and attention to detail it gave us a chance to demonstrate. But as a lifelong fan of this team myself (along with several others on the M&G team), after remaining loyal during the rough years, this is a project (and football season!!) we will never forget,” said Jamie the founder & CEO at Marigold & Grey.

The Gifting Game Plan

From the start, we knew we didn’t want to create just a gift. We wanted to tell a story. A story of grit, transformation, and triumph. Something that would feel celebratory but also be a part of a lasting legacy. We were looking for a gift Commanders fans could keep proudly on display in their homes or offices as a tangible reminder of an unforgettable season.

Our vision began to take shape around one centerpiece item: a Waterford crystal football, custom-engraved with the word “HAIL,” which if you know, you know as a true Commander's fan.

Elegant, timeless, and undeniably powerful, this luxurious gift set the tone for the rest of the gifting experience.

Bringing the Season to Life

Next, we wanted to capture the major milestones that made this Commanders season so special. Working with a talented illustrator, we created a custom timeline artwork that visually narrated the team’s biggest moments.

From hiring new GM Adam Peters and recruiting coach Dan Quinn, to drafting fan-favorite quarterback Jayden Daniels, to the iconic Hail Mary game, to the unforgettable “drink off the uprights” to win the playoff game in Tampa, and of course playing in the NFC championship game. It was truly a season to remember! 

These illustrations weren’t just decorative. They were designed to spark emotion, nostalgia, and pride. Each one played a pivotal role in the Commanders’ story and allowed recipients to relive the magic, one highlight at a time.

Design Details That Scored Big

The gift packaging echoed the team’s iconic burgundy, gold, and black color palette. A bold and regal design with a modern twist. From the foil-stamped gift tags with the team's logo to the ribbon selection and custom gift box interiors, no detail was overlooked. Every element was designed to build excitement and honor the deep loyalty and energy that defines Commanders Nation.
