How to Launch an Employee Appreciation Gift Campaign During Covid

As the months drag on and remote work is still commonplace due to Covid, more and more clients are asking us for help in showing appreciation to their clients by way of custom curated gift boxes. We've previously shared some ideas here and here but I'm excited to share with you one of most fun and comprehensive employee appreciation projects thus far!

Earlier this year, we were asked by our corporate client Ashfield Health to develop an employee appreciation gifting program allowing employees to select their own gift concept. We still wanted the gifts to be surprise so we came up with three unique, yet still on-brand, gift designs and each employee was emailed and asked "Which of these three concepts most appeals to you?" and once the answers came in, we built the gifts to those exact quantities and drop-shipped them directly to each employee's home address. The concepts we developed (aka their three gift box choices) were "Fun in the Sun", "Health & Wellness" and "Cocktail Kit", each intentionally curated for enjoyment during Covid times!

FUN IN THE SUN

The first concept "Fun in the Sun" was meant to be used for outdoor outings and getting some fresh air during quarantine. We used the blues and greens from Ashfield Health's branding colors and designed bright and lively custom gift boxes full of items such as beach towels, handheld personal fans for staying cool on the beach, SunBum SPF, spiked seltzer, and pina colada Sugarfina gummies! We finished these gift sets off with on-brand lime green ribbon and logo gift tags for a professional and polished look.

QUARANTINE COCKTAIL KIT

The second concept "Quarantine Cocktail Kit" was meant to contain all of the items needed for a fun cocktail experience at home, specifically making an Old Fashioned. We included a set of branded insulated tumblers, branded beverage chilling rocks, a mini cocktail kit containing ingredients to make an Old Fashioned, citrus slices, and bourbon flavored gourmet pecans. We selected sleek black boxes in keeping with the cocktail vibe and finished them off with branded belly bands for a fresh, modern look.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

The third and final concept "Health & Wellness" was curated to include items that Ashfield employees could enjoy while focusing on remaining healthy and relaxed during Covid. We chose natural pine boxes for a soft, organic, calming vibe and filled them with Que expandable water bottles to remain hydrated, luxury candles for stress relief, Sugarfina green juice gummies, rose water toner and rose sangria body scrub for a touch of spa life at home. The boxes were printed with the Ashfield logo on top and finished off with soft green ribbon.

Each gift box contained a personal notecard from the CEO expressing his gratitude for the employees' hard work, dedication, and commitment during such difficult times. Having a heartfelt message accompany gift boxes is the perfect finishing touch to pull any gift concept together.

TOP TIPS

To sum it up, our tips for launching a successful employee appreciation gift campaign during Covid are:

  1. Develop concepts that will appeal to employees during Covid and be useful to them.
  2. Give employees a choice between a few different concepts.
  3. Include your branding just enough without going overboard.
  4. Drop-ship gifts directly to recipients' homes - they'll be super surprised!
  5. Include a heartfelt message of appreciation from top leadership.

We hope you've enjoyed this recap and are dying to know...which concept would you choose and why? For help developing a gift campaign during Covid, contact us here. We'd love to hear from you!
