As a business owner, it's not uncommon to consider the business your baby. I know I do. For this reason, it's downright scary to go from a team of one to hiring employees and bringing them into your world. Never in a million years did I think I would hire my first FULL time employee in September of 2015 and then turn around and have the need to hire a second just five months later. But things have been nutty around here (in a good way!) and only continue to get nuttier. Thankfully, I've found just the right Studio Associate to add to our small-but-mighty gifting team and this is her first week with us!
I'm elated to introduce you to Holly Prothero! She's a Maryland-native, Towson University graduate, one of five siblings and a bride-to-be herself! She comes to us from the non-profit world but also with some wedding planning experience under her belt. We're pretty confident that no matter what kind of crazy happens in the studio, she'll be ready for it.

And now let's hear from Holly herself!
Tell me about yourself.
I am from Carroll County, Maryland and grew up in a tight knit neighborhood surrounded by great people. Being the oldest of five kids, my family and I are very close.
What attracted you to the Studio Associate position?
When I saw the position for Studio Associate, I knew without hesitation that this position would be the perfect fit, I have always considered gift giving like a hobby to me, so I knew this opportunity would be perfect.
What do you most look forward to about the job?
There are a ton of things I am looking forward to with Marigold & Grey! I am excited to begin perfecting my ribbon tying skills while creating gifts people will adore, as well as working with other creative talents whose work deserves to be shared with the world!
Tell us about planning your own wedding planning. What advice do you have for brides-to-be going through the wedding planning process? Any advice?
Currently I am planning my own wedding for this June! My fiancé and I have been together for seven years and are extremely excited to begin this new chapter of life as Mr & Mrs!
My advice for brides-to-be would be to begin your planning early and to use Pinterest cautiously. There are so many ideas out there that is can be overwhelming. Overall, just enjoy this short but sweet time in your life being engaged!

And we MUST know. How did you man propose?
We went to a park near our house called Piney Run Park. In the summers, we always go kayaking. Four years ago, we carved our name on a tree there. Everytime we hike there, I point it out. But this time, per usual, I pointed out the tree, he looked back at it in a funny. This time, on the opposite site of the tree he had carved "Will You Marry Me" into the tree? I knew it was coming eventually but had no clue it was happening that day since we hike all of the time.
Who inspires you?
There are a ton of individuals that inspire me for a variety of reasons. Some of these people are my immediate family members, and others are simply people I meet in passing who have a great outlook on life and remind me to be the best person I can be and to take every opportunity handed to me.
What are some hobbies that you enjoy?
In my free time I enjoy hiking in areas around Maryland and Virginia, going to country concerts, photographing engaged couples and weddings and drinking lots of Dunkin Donuts iced coffee to keep me going!
Please join me in giving Holly a warm welcome!
