Nautical Styled Shoot at the Inn at Perry Cabin

This styled shoot is one I'll never forget. Over a two-hour drive from my studio, I made it just outside the main entrance of the Inn at Perry Cabin in beautiful St. Micahels and BAM! I got a flat tire. And not the kind you can risk it just a little longer and drive on, either. It was completely shot. Rumor has it I hit a curb because I wasn't paying attention, but I'm pleading the fifth. Anyway, it was lucky I was close enough to see the venue in front of me so I ditched the car, grabbed my wedding welcome gift design and styling props, and headed for the shoot. I'd deal with the car later.
The Nantucket-inspired nautical aesthetic was breathtaking. Lauryn Prattes styled up an exceptional two days of gorgeous and Laura Gordon captured it with film. Let's put it this way. Even if I hadn't gotten a flat tire and become stranded, I would've stayed ALL day!
There are a some special elements making up this gift design that I'm super excited to show you! The first, an actual message-in-a-bottle! The weekend itinerary was rolled up, tied with cotton twine, garnished with fresh lavender and carefully inserted into the bottle to get just the right shot! When I say "carefully", oh my goodness, I mean it. I won't even tell you how many tries it took to get the word "brunch" pointing perfectly towards the camera.
Next is the treatment of this champagne bottle. I wrapped it in dusty blue paper so soft, it draped almost like fabric. I rolled it down to expose the cork and then added a silk tassel for an extra accent. The welcome itinerary and custom monogram were both created by Poppy & Scooter.
Additional gift contents adding to the soft, luxe, spa feel were Tocca perfume, a dish of fresh blueberries and blackberries, ivory candles, and a hand-lettered "welcome" tag with silk ribbon. Tag also by Poppy & Scooter.
A huge thanks to Lauryn for asking us to collaborate on this project! And an even bigger thanks to Nikki Frasier, makeup artist at the shoot, who offered to give me a ride all the way back with her. It's definitely a day I'll never forget!
