Artisan Gifting Business Suffers Damage from Building Fire and Announces Plan Forward

I'm a firm believer in full transparency and so I want you to hear this news directly from me as the business owner rather than from the press or via word of mouth...

Last week, in the middle of the night, our building suffered a significant fire resulting in collateral damage and loss to our studio and business. Thankfully no one was hurt.

I have a TON to say about this crazy experience and what it feels like to rush to the scene at 4 a.m. and witness your beloved business surrounded by 75 firefighters and the helplessness of having to wait to learn the extent of the damage. I'm sure I'll share more one of these days.

In the meantime though, we owe you an honest update on where we stand:

  • Our current studio is uninhabitable and will be for some time. But with can-do attitudes, generous help from studio neighbors and friends, and a TON of hustle and teamwork, we are already up and running in a temporary space next door!
  • Even in light of the challenging circumstances, miraculously, we haven't missed any delivery deadlines for custom projects! We will continue to focus heavily on honoring delivery deadlines to our existing clients and communicating along the way.
  • We've temporarily suspended our online shop until we replace our inventory enough to be able to fulfill web orders again. Our goal is to be back online within two weeks, and then launch our 2019 Ready-to-Ship Holiday Collection shortly thereafter. (If you have an online order pending with us, you should have already received an email from us notifying you of the delay and offering you an immediate refund if your order is time sensitive. Otherwise, we will work to fulfill your web order as soon as we possibly can.)
  • We still have a few slots remaining for Custom Gift Design Service for holiday gifting and will absolutely be able to execute these projects. Please email hello@marigoldgrey.com to inquire. (Examples of past custom holiday projects are here.)

From the moment this happened, Team M&G entered hard core problem solving mode. There was no complaining about this hitting us during our busiest time of the year, no feeling sorry for ourselves, and certainly no blaming the business above us for how this fire may have started.

OUR TOP PRIORITY?

We're focusing solely on minimizing the impact to our clients and will continue to do so, no matter what it takes.

I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but please know we will be back (and better than ever) very soon! If you have ANY questions whatsoever, please reach out via hello@marigoldgrey.com.

Thank you for your support of us, in good times and in bad!

Jamie! I am so, so sorry for what you’re going through! Yes, thank God no person was hurt and material things can be replaced. This is certainly a tough time, I know, but I did want to say that if you need any help, I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and clean, lift boxes, through out trash! If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. You’ll get through this, I know, with grace!
