Hostess thank you gifts and fall....two of my favorite things! L.M. Montgomery, the author of Anne of Green Gables, was definitely speaking to my heart when he said, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." With the changing leaves, and crisper air, come autumn dinner parties and, of course, Thanksgiving! In the spirit of gifts that keep on giving, today we are sharing 5 fun fall hostess gifts that will thoughtfully double as decor.
Cake Stand
In one sense, like many kitchen gadgets and utensils, cake stands have a very singular purpose. However, I also believe they can be used in many versatile ways and they add immense depth to decor. A cute cake stand could be styled with smaller decor items and create a gorgeous display for a variety of seasons.

This fall I love the idea of baking an heirloom recipe and bringing a cake, or pie, to share with your hostess. It will be such a joy to share your delicious treat and leaving the cake stand for your hosts is such a thoughtful touch.
Candle Sticks
While I mainly tend to use jar candles, there is something so elegant about assorted candle sticks. This gift idea is a little bit trickier since you need to be acutely aware of the aesthetics of the home you've been invited to. However, for Thanksgiving, or for a dinner with close friends, bringing over candles, and gorgeous candle sticks, as a gift is a wonderful idea.

Hostess With The Mostess Gift Box
Our favorite part about our Hostess With The Mostess pre-designed gift box that we offer is just how versatile it is! While the rosemary shortbread cookies are a great addition that the hostess can eat immediately, the lotion, candle, and luxe turkish hand towel can be used for a long time to come!
Whether you've been invited to a co-worker's holiday party, your new neighbor's dinner party, or your family Thanksgiving dinner, this gift works for so many occasions!

Ornaments
I for one want to savor fall for as long as possible. However, the season always seems to slip quickly away and before I know it Christmas season is upon us in full swing. Christmas in and of itself brings with it a whole host of gifting ideas and demands so why not get a jump start on the festive spirit?

If you're bringing over a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates as a hostess gift try wrapping them up and then tying a fun ornament on the outside. This thoughtful gift helps spread out the cheer and your hosts will remember your company throughout the Christmas season.
Pumpkins
Now, bear with me on this one! You might be thinking, "I can't simply show up at my neighbors house with pumpkins!" Being in the special events industry, I love details and the significance of symbolism. I simply love the southern hospitality associated with pineapples, the universal symbol of hospitality. However, not only are pineapples out of season in October, they also clash aesthetically with autumnal decor. This is wear adorable pumpkins come in. While Emily Post may have other thoughts on the matter, I think giving a pumpkin, as a fall substitute for a pineapple, is a wonderful idea.

The concept of sharing a pumpkin with your hostess certainly doesn't need to be taken literally either! We love the idea of baking a homemade pumpkin pie and gifting it along with a the cake stand we mentioned above! Of course, a small basket of dainty white pumpkins would be a great addition to any mantle vignette or tablescape.
Of course, if someone is kind enough to invite us to a fall dinner party as gorgeous as this one we may just be inclined to bring all of the above hostess gifts! Connecting with dear friends, all while snuggled in that adorable wool blanket, sounds like an autumn dream come true!
