Mother's Day Gift Ideas She'll Never Know are Last-Minute

Numerous super hero movies have hit the big screen over the past few years, but I can’t help notice that producers seem to be missing one of the biggest superhero story lines of all time, our dear mothers. Mothers work incredibly hard 365 days a year and they deserve to be celebrated not only on the second Sunday of May, but everyday! With Mother’s Day coming up this Sunday, we thought up some special ways to celebrate all the moms out there and make sure they feel especially loved and cared for. We hope you enjoy our ideas!
Flowers
What better conveys beauty and elegance than a gorgeous bloom? We love this time of year because of the accessibility of fresh, delicate, and fragrant flowers. Everywhere you look, from the cherry blossoms on the capitol mall to the hydrangeas at the supermarket, flowers are popping out and now is the perfect time to share these blooms!
Garden roses are one of our absolute favorite blooms right now. They are incredibly delicate and we love how they make a soft, but bold statement in arrangements. Fun fact: if you have trouble locating these wonderful flowers it is helpful to know that they are sometimes referred to as cushion roses, cabbage roses, English roses or David Austin roses!

Seeds
While fresh cut flowers are sure to wow your special woman, gifting her with a few packets of seeds will help her feel celebrated far past May 8th. Everytime she looks out at her garden your mother will think of you and the special bond you share. A packet of lavender seeds or some delicious mint seeds are our favorite suggestions. Both plants smell simply amazing, in addition to being versatile! As summer approaches and her seeds begin to bloom, she will be able to make delicious tea or use her lavender in some delectable baked goods. This is such a memorable, and cost effective, element to add to your Mother’s Day gift!

Artisan Candle
Mother’s Day is the one day a year that is specially dedicated for mother’s to be treated and pampered. However, why not leave her with something that she can keep using to treat herself for a long time to come? A candle with a soothing scent is the perfect way to help mom relax as she does the dishes, or as she relaxes with a bath. We loved this Chicago Candle Co. candle that we used in a previous social gifting box.

Edibles
Whether it be rich chocolates, decadent pastries, or her favorite fresh fruit, make sure to add something to munch on to the basket. I can imagine my own mother sitting on the back porch, reading my card, imagining planting her new seeds, and enjoying a flaky croissant with local jam. Maybe you mother has a favorite bakery that makes the best chocolate chip cookies, or maybe she absolutely adores your grandmother’s danish recipe. Whatever the treat may be, throw in one for now, and an extra just for good measure!

Heartfelt Card
This is probably the single most important element of a meaningful Mother’s Day gift. Although the chocolates will get eaten, and the flowers will wilt, your mother will cherish her card, and your encouraging words for quite some time. It doesn’t have to be anything too gushy or long winded, but simply letting your mother that you love and appreciate her is so special. Mother’s don’t work hard because there is a great salary associated with motherhood, or special job perks, they do it for you, and expressing your gratitude in words makes it all worth it!
While there are many wonderful stationery companies out there with amazing Mother’s Day cards, a handmade card would be just as special. A few sheets of card stock, some metallic pens, and some hand lettering are sure to go a long way! This one from Quill & Fox via Etsy is a great example!

Tote Bag
We love the idea of giving mom her special gift in a tote that she can reuse at the farmer’s market or take on a picnic. Depending on your mom’s style, a simple burlap bag will do the trick perfectly. Both durable and chic, a reusable tote is the perfect way to tie together this mother’s day gift!
