Virginia-Inspired Wedding Welcome Gifts
FILED IN: Wedding Welcome Gifts

Today's post is all about Virginia-inspired wedding welcome gifts, a subject near and dear to my heart. I was born and raised in Virginia. I went to college in Virginia (Go Dukes!), got my first full-time job in Virginia, and even owned my first home in Virginia. I got married in Virginia too. So, why did I leave? Oh, the crazy things you do for love! I never thought it would happen but this Virginia girl officially has Maryland license plates! So, naturally, the chance to write this week’s post about Virginia-inspired wedding welcome gifts has me feeling completely at home. Without further adieu, here are some of my favorite Virginia items to include in your wedding welcome gifts!
Route 11 Chips
Made right in the Shenandoah Valley, Route 11 potato chips are a great addition to a welcome gift. The packaging is playful and attractive and even better, there are plenty of unique flavors to choose from. For example, you can go mainstream with Lightly Salted, Salt N Vinegar or Barbeque. Or, spice things up a bit with Chesapeake Crab or Dill Pickle. They come in smaller, snack-size bags which are perfect for a tote bag or gift box.

Dominion Root Beer
Why not use a beverage to give your guests a taste of Virginia! Made with actual Virginia honey, Dominion Root Beer is a great non-alcoholic beverage choice for your welcome gifts and is often a nice added bonus to the standard bottles of water your guests love to receive.
Custom Cookies
Made in Ashburn, Virginia, these custom cookies are a favorite on our website! The cookie in the shape of Virginia, the dogwood flower and the always-popular “Virginia is for Lovers” t-shirt cookie. Too bad a welcome gift can’t be all cookies because it’s a tough decision!

Tea Towel
When designing welcome gifts for couples and planners, if the budget allows, I always love to include a keepsake. This way, guests return home with something useful to remember your wedding by. One of my favorites is this Virgina-themed tea towel! It even includes some history and fun facts about the state to share with your guests.

Virginia is for Lovers
As you saw with one of the cookie examples above, I’m a sucker for anything “Virginia is for Lovers”. In the welcome gifts I designed for my own wedding back in October of 2012, I included a vintage “VA is for Lovers” postcard in each of the gift bags. But you can also do a tumbler with a straw, bumper sticker, baseball cap or even a package of peanuts.
Virginia Peanuts
Peanuts are a big deal in Virginia! There are several brands that are well-known and have nice packaging! Whitley’s peanuts are available in clear cello bags or in traditional cans. Hubs Peanuts are now packaged in healthy single serving portions called “Hubbies”. Not only healthier but also a perfect size for welcome bags!

Popped Republic Popcorn
Popped Republic, a Northern Virginia staple, is a great way to include something sweet or even salty into your gift! While most of their flavors cleverly reference the District (ie Congressional Cheddar, Capitol Caramel, White House White Cheddar), Mount Vernon Maple Glaze makes the perfect flavor for a Virginia wedding!

If you're planning a Virginia wedding, I already can't wait to work with the Marigold & Grey team to create custom gifts inspired by my favorite state that your guests will love.
