Giving back by way of our ready-to-ship curated gift boxes is very important to us which is why we are so excited to be teaming up with team #SMASHBloodCancer to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. LLS is at the forefront of the fight to cure cancer. LLS is the largest non-profit funder of cutting-edge research to advance cures for blood cancer. They have invested nearly $1.3 billion in research, supporting the organization’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
LLS’s investment in research has been remarkably successful with significant increases in survival rates. Since the 1960’s five-year survival rates for blood cancers have increased by 2x, 3x, and even 4x. In addition the work LLS is doing on a daily basis goes beyond blood cancers. Critical treatment innovations have originated through blood cancer research – radiation, chemotherapy, stem cell transplantation, and new targeted therapies. Blood cancer research leads to treatment advances for other cancers and serious diseases. Nearly 50% of FDA-approved blood cancer therapies are currently in clinical trials to treat number of other cancers & diseases.
Team #SMASHBloodCancer is a group of driven individuals, led by cancer survivor, Debi Strauch who are competing in the Man & Woman of the Year campaign - a philanthropic competition for leaders in the community to raise as much funds for LLS over 10 weeks. The titles 'Man & Woman of the Year' will be awarded to the candidates who raise the most funds in the 10-week time frame. Team #SMASHBloodCancer has set out to raise over $100,000 for the LLS mission by July 18th.
