2022 Year In Review

2022, where did you go?!
It feels like just yesterday that we were settling into our new warehouse location at the end of 2021 and into 2022. While I struggled with the decision to take the risk to expand so significantly, it ended up being the right decision by far. We were able to grow both parts of the business (custom gift design and e-commerce ready-to-ship gift collection), gain efficiencies, and really use the space to our benefit for both front of house and back of the house.
New Studio Headquarters
With the help of a small business designer friend of ours, we had our space furnished and decorated, making it feel like “us.” This helped us feel ready to welcome clients, vendors, family, and friends into our space in the spring for an official Warehouse- Warming Party! (Fun fact: by far, our guests’ favorite part was touring our sample room!)

Team Marigold & Grey
We added new members to our team – Maria as Production Lead, Mia as Studio Concierge, and Cathryn as Digital Marketing Assistant, and trained many new Production Assistants to help us with gift assembly, inventory management, and all things operations.

And speaking of growing the team, M&G gained two new mini members when Chloe and Jordan both had their first babies – a little boy for Chloe in June and a little girl for Jordan in October! We celebrated with surprise baby showers in the office, which allowed us to take a nice break from the world of gifting and celebrate these meaningful milestones together as a group. They’ve both since returned from maternity leave and are supporting our team remotely through the beginning of the year – and absolutely doing a great job!
New Curated Gift Collections
We made sure we didn’t rest on our laurels and launched a fresh new Mother’s Day Gift Collection, an extensive Fall Gift Collection, and of course, the 2022 Holiday Gift Collection – the largest amount of new gift designs in the history of the business.
Our goal with our new curated gift collections was to fill gaps in our offering to make sure we have truly unique curations for every occasion in both life and work while also doubling down on our commitment to source extensively from small businesses, woman-owned and minority-owned businesses.

Corporate Custom Gifting Clients
We were also honored to expand our client list (and earn repeat projects with past clients) with notable brands such as custom client appreciation gifs for Google, custom corporate event gifts for Coca-Cola, [solidcore], Rent., custom holiday gift boxes for Clark Construction, Coinbase, custom welcome gifts for NFL's Washington Commanders, custom welcome totes for a corporate sales retreat the Wall Street Journal, the PGA, Nestle, and so many more.

Small Business Ownership
Sure, we had challenges this year too – delays in rolling out our brand new fully-integrated IT system, difficulties finding enough qualified people to work at peak times, vendor letdowns, etc.
But these pale in comparison to what we managed to accomplish. Overcoming challenges comes down to one thing in my opinion – teamwork. We have a team in place that supports one another, works together to meet deadlines for our clients, solves problems as they arise, and learns from every problem we face.
Challenges really do make a business better, stronger, more durable, and longer lasting.
I’m so excited to see what 2023 will bring, and I hope you’ll continue to come along with us for the ride. In the meantime, wishing you the happiest and healthiest of New Year’s from all of us here at Team M&G!
